Higher-education graduates of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) have been picking up their share of plaudits and honors in the last two weeks. The following college, graduate-school and doctoral graduates are a few representatives of Unificationist “Generation Next” future leaders.
Parents: Mark and Lucia Anderson
Graduated from: Arizona State University
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Marketing
Achievements: Graduated cum laude; received the Provost Scholarship.
Expected plans after graduation: Anderson will look for work in Italy.
Los Angeles, California
Parents: Jack and Myung Ja Ashworth
Graduated from: University of California, San Diego
Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Human Development
Achievements: Graduated cum laude.
Expected plans after graduation: Ashworth will work for a year and then apply to grad school.
Alan Shinkook Becker
Parents: Robert and Yoko Becker
Graduated from: Columbus College of Art and Design
Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies
Achievements: Graduated summa cum laude and with a 3.98 GPA; made the President’s List, received the Dean and Earl Kelly Holingsworth Scholarship; received the Columbus College of Art and Design Board of Trustee’s Scholarship.
Expected plans after graduation: Becker will do freelance animation.
Chung Hwa Lorraine Brewer

Degree: Communications Sciences and Disorders
Achievements: Faculty Award, summa cum laude, Vice President of the National Speech and Language Association.
Expected plans after graduation: Brewer plans to attend Graduate School.

Graduated from: Ringling College of Art and Design
Degree: Bachelor of Fine Arts, Interior Design
Expected plans after graduation: Capps plans to become involved in commercial interior design, specifically in the area of healthcare design and evidence-based design.

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED) and a minor in Religion and Politics and a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies
Achievements: Graduated summa cum laude, earned an Honors Degree, received the International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED) Award, member of Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, Sigma Iota Rho (International Studies Honor Society) and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science Honor Society).
Expected plans after graduation: Cooper plans to attend graduate school for a Masters in Education.
Alexander Shin Kwon Couweleers

Expected plans after graduation: In August 2013, des Lauriers, together with some classmates, will compete in the Solar Decathlon China (SD China) competition, an international award-winning program that challenges teams to design, build and operate solar-energy efficient houses.

Achievements: Graduated with Honors (member of the Honors program), received the Dean’s Award for GPA, graduated with a 4.0 GPA, member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Somang Lilliane Freeland
San Leandro, California

Expected plans after graduation: Freeland plans to obtain her Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) and fulfill her volunteer and internship experience to become a Registered Dietitian (RD).

Graduated from: University of Cincinnati, School of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communication Design
Achievements: Graduated summa cum laude; listed five years on Dean's List; received the Wal-Mart scholarship, Warren County Arts Council Scholarship, Mark P. Herschede Scholarship, Frances D. Cohen Scholarship (twice), Macy’s Scholarship, Richard and Jean Coyne Scholarship (twice), Woseczek Scholarship, and Ohio College Opportunity Grant.
Expected plans after graduation: Fukatsu will work at a full-time graphic design position.
Parents: D. Michael and Shigeko Hentrich
Graduated from: Western Governors University Texas
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Business Management
Achievements: College Access Scholarship 2011-2012.
Expected plans after graduation: Hentrich will continue to graduate school in order to get his MBA.
Matthew J. Hill
Parents: David and Kathy Hill
Graduated from: The University of Maryland, College Park’s School of Music
Degree: Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice Performance
Achievements: Awarded the full, four-year Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship, the Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts Award, the Maryland Senatorial Scholarship, the National High School Choral Award, the Shining Star Award for Drama and the Shining Star Award for Choir. During his studies he performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts more than 20 times. Hill has been performing principal roles in musical theater productions since middle school. In college he played principal roles in several musical-theater productions. He also appeared in opera productions.
Expected plans after graduation: Hill is employed by St. John’s Episcopal Church as a tenor (next to the US White House). He will be spending July and August in Siena, Italy performing in Mozart’s Magic Flute as part of the Siena Summer Opera Festival. Expected plans after graduation: Kim is currently applying for job positions and will work for a few years, then graduate school.
Seizan Robert Lindstrom

Expected plans after graduation: Lindstrom will enjoy the rest of the summer and then seek jobs in architecture or design, preferable within the Columbus area. He is currently undecided about graduate school.

Expected plans after graduation: Martin will pursue a Masters in Accounting graduate-school program in Missoula, Montana.

Expected plans after graduation: Matsuuchi will work as a high school science teacher in Los Angeles as part of the Teach for American program. She plans to pursue her master’s degree in teaching.
